Gainesville Gutter Repair

A gutter that leaks at the corners, sags between hangers or spills over the front in a storm sends water exactly where it does the most harm: against your fascia, down your walls and into the soil around your foundation. Larry's Gutters fixes those problems for homeowners across Gainesville and Alachua County from our office on South Main Street.

We'll tell you straight whether a repair will last, or whether a section or the whole system is due for gutter replacement. See all of our Gainesville gutter services.

What We Repair

Sagging gutters and loose or failed hangers. Leaking corners, end caps and seams. Gutters with the wrong pitch that hold standing water. Sections dented or crushed by ladders, limbs or storms. Downspouts that are disconnected, crushed or emptying against the house. Water shooting past the gutter where a roof valley pours into it.

How We Fix It

Re-pitching. A gutter needs a slight fall toward each outlet. When hangers loosen or the fascia shifts, water sits in the low spots and spills. We reset the pitch and fasten the run with new hangers.

Resealing. Corners and end caps are where gutters leak first. We strip out the failed sealant, reseal the joint and test it with water.

New sections and hangers. When a piece is too damaged to save, we replace that section and match it to the rest of the run.

Downspouts and splash guards. We reconnect or replace damaged downspouts, extend them so water lands away from the foundation, and add splash guards where valleys overshoot the gutter.

Repair or Replace?

Repair makes sense when the gutter itself is sound and the problem is in one place: a loose hanger, a leaking corner, a dented piece. Replacement is the better buy when the gutters are corroded, leak at many joints, are too small for the roof, or are pulling away along most of the house. Older sectional gutters often reach that point first, since every joint is another place to leak.

At the estimate we'll show you what we found. If a repair will hold, that's what we'll quote; if new seamless gutters are the smarter move, we'll explain why.

After a Storm

After a tropical storm or a hard summer thunderstorm, walk around the house and look for gutters pulled away from the fascia, sections bent by falling limbs and downspouts knocked loose. Call us and we'll come out, look it over and give you a free repair estimate.

Fascia Damage Starts at the Gutter

When a gutter leaks or overflows for a long time, the water soaks the fascia board behind it. Soft fascia can't hold hangers, so the gutter sags even more. If we find damaged fascia during a repair, we'll point it out before the gutter goes back up.

Downspouts That Do Their Job

A lot of gutter problems are really downspout problems: too few outlets for the roof, a downspout emptying onto a walkway, or one dumping water beside the foundation. We fix the drainage, not just the leak. More about downspouts.

Make the Repair Last

Leaves and needles that sit in a gutter hold water, add weight and wear the metal out faster. Once your gutters are repaired, a gutter guard keeps debris out so the fix holds.

How much does gutter repair cost in Gainesville?

It depends on what's wrong and how much of the system is affected. Resealing a corner is a small job; rehanging a long sagging run takes more. We look at it in person and give you a free estimate before any work starts.

Why do my gutters overflow in heavy rain?

The usual causes are a gutter that has lost its pitch, too few downspouts for the size of the roof, a blocked outlet, or a roof valley pouring more water into one spot than the gutter can catch. We find the cause and fix that.

Do you repair storm-damaged gutters?

Yes. We rehang gutters that have pulled away, replace bent or crushed sections and reattach downspouts after storms.

Can a sagging gutter be fixed, or does it need replacing?

Most sagging gutters can be fixed by resetting the pitch and adding new hangers, as long as the gutter and the fascia behind it are sound. If either is failing, replacement is the better choice.
