Splash Guards in Gainesville, FL
Stops Valley Overflow
For New and Existing Gutters
What a Splash Guard Does
Where two roof slopes meet, they form a valley that funnels a whole section of roof into one spot on the gutter. In a heavy storm the water comes down that valley fast enough to shoot straight over the gutter and land beside the house. A splash guard (also called a valley shield) is a short metal flange on the front of the gutter at that spot that catches the water and turns it back into the gutter.
Do You Need Splash Guards?
Watch your gutters during a summer downpour. If water sheets over the front edge at an inside corner of the roof while the rest of the gutter is coping fine, a splash guard is the fix. Look for the signs on dry days too: a line of washed-out mulch, a trench in the soil or dirt splashed on the wall under one corner.

How We Install Them
Splash guards are aluminum, color-matched to your gutters, and fastened to the front lip of the gutter right where the valley empties.
They come standard on every new seamless gutter system we install.
On existing gutters we add them wherever a valley overshoots.
If the gutter at a valley also needs a nearby downspout to keep up, we'll recommend one.

Metal Roofs and Steep Roofs
Water runs off metal roofs and steep pitches much faster than off a low shingle roof, so valley overflow is more common on them. Homes with several roof valleys, dormers or additions often need a splash guard at each valley.
Overflow at a valley that keeps happening after a splash guard is in usually means the gutter or its downspouts are too small for that section of roof. We'll check that at the estimate.

Water that overshoots a gutter lands in the same spot every storm: on a flower bed, against the wall, on a screen enclosure or on the walkway. A splash guard keeps it in the gutter.
Small Part, Big Difference
Splash guards are inexpensive, and they make the rest of the gutter system work the way it should.
Combine With Other Work
