Downspout Installation in Leesburg, FL
Water Carried Away From the House
New, Added and Moved Downspouts
Leesburg Downspout Installation
Most of Lake and Sumter County is sand. When a downspout empties right beside the house, the water digs into that sand fast, washing out beds, undercutting walkways and soaking the soil around the slab. A properly planned downspout puts the water somewhere it can do no harm.
Larry's Gutters installs downspouts with every new gutter system and adds or moves them on existing gutters for homes across Leesburg and The Villages. See all of our gutter services.
Common Downspout Problems We Fix
A single outlet at the end of a long run, so the gutter overflows before the water gets there. Downspouts that empty onto the lanai, the driveway or a walkway. A downspout dumping water next to the AC pad. Erosion channels in the mulch or lawn below an outlet. Elbows that have separated or been crushed by a mower.

How We Place Downspouts
We place downspouts about every 40 feet of gutter, and add more where a large roof section or a valley sends extra water to one corner.
We put them where the water can be turned away from the house: corners and open ground, not beside doors, patios or equipment.
Elbows and extensions carry the water out from the foundation, and each downspout is fastened to the wall so storms don't pull it loose.
Downspouts are aluminum in the same color as your gutters.

Downspouts for Villas and Screen Rooms
On many homes in The Villages, the gutter over the lanai or screen room drains straight onto the patio or beside the screen frame. Moving that downspout to the end of the screen room, or adding an extension that carries the water past it, keeps the patio dry and the frame from staining.
If water pours over the gutter at an inside corner of the roof, the fix is often a splash guard at the valley plus a downspout close to it.

How far apart should downspouts be?
About every 40 feet of gutter, with extra downspouts where a big roof section or a valley sends more water to one place.
Can you move a downspout that drains onto my lanai?
Yes. We can move it to a better spot or add an extension that carries the water past the patio.
Why is the ground washing out under my downspout?
Sandy soil erodes quickly where roof water lands. An elbow and extension that spread the water away from the house usually stops it.
Do you install downspouts on existing gutters?
Yes. We add outlets and downspouts to existing seamless gutters.
